What is Daw’ra

Daw’ra is a developing movement practice that combines guided movement, somatic awareness (connection between mind and body), creative exploration, and relational practice within a supportive, non-performative group environment.

Inspired by ideas from somatic and depth psychology, this practice invites a deeper connection with the body, imagination, and inner experience. While these perspectives inform the approach, this is a creative movement practice rather than a therapeutic one. Understanding the body as conscious, intelligent, and expressive of the inner world.

In a Daw’ra session, participants are invited to deepen their connection to body, breath, sensation, and imagination through a series of accessible movement investigations. Working individually, in pairs, and as a group, we explore the qualities of the seasonal cycle through movement, presence, rhythm, and play.

This is a space to notice how we inhabit ourselves.

What to Expect?

  • Gentle somatic awareness practices to help you arrive in your body and the present moment.

  • Guided movement explorations inspired by the seasonal themes of the Daw'ra cycle.

  • Opportunities for creative expression through movement, rhythm, and improvisation.

  • Relational and partner-based exercises that invite connection, non-verbal communication, and shared exploration.

  • Moments of reflection and integration to support embodied awareness and personal insight.

  • A supportive environment where movement is approached with curiosity rather than performance.

No dance experience is necessary. All exercises can be adapted to suit individual needs and abilities.

Seasonal Cycle

There are seasons within us, times of emergence, expansion, contraction and stillness, and each serves a purpose. The practice is guided by the metaphorical seasonal framework below.

Inner Spring

Exploring themes of emergence, sensitivity, curiosity, new beginnings, and awakening.

Inner Summer

Exploring themes of expansion, vitality, fullness, and expression.

Inner Autumn

Exploring themes of transformation, yielding, letting go, and harvest.

Inner Winter

Exploring themes of deep rest, restoration, and contemplation.

Each season has its own unique movement language, which we explore through guided practice alongside embodied, intuitive movement. Together, these approaches offer movement tools you can carry beyond the studio while deepening your connection to yourself, your intuition, and your unique expression.
